I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul and to me, this has always been enough.
~ Nicholas Sparks, The Notebook Category: People This is very important - to take leisure time. The pace is the essence. Without stopping entirely and doing nothing at all for great periods, you're gonna lose everything...just to do nothing at all, very, very important. And how many people do this in modern society? Very few. That's why they're all totally mad, frustrated, angry and hateful.
~ Charles Bukowski Category: People In a photograph above is pictured my good friend Vlado. We worked together for years and spent a lot of our free time together, always looking for any adventure.
The photograph was taken during our two days winter hike in the Low Tatras Mountains. We stayed overnight in the woodcutter’s cottage which was unoccupied at that time, but we weren't alone. At the end of the day stopped there a bunch of young people and they asked us for a night shelter. That kind of housing was usually used for two-three persons but in the end it became a safe haven for the ten of us. Some spent all night above, in the loft, under the roof. I see paintings or drawings in the poorest cottages, in the dirtiest corners. And my mind is driven towards these things with an irresistible momentum. ~ Vincent van Gogh Category: Classic The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.
~ Marcel Proust Category: Urban Landscape This is a short series from the Festival of Lights that was held on 3 October in Kosice and was titled the White Night 2015. I was particularly surprised by the interactive video projection, performed by artist Barbora Bereznakova. In a shadow play real figures and their shadows mutually penetrate and a participating audience is a part of this game. He moved like a dancer, which is not surprising; a horse is a beautiful animal, but it is perhaps most remarkable because it moves as if it always hears music.
~ Mark Helprin, Winter's Tale Category: Speed Knowledge would be fatal. It is the uncertainty that charms one. A mist makes things wonderful.
~ Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray Category: Landscape He who jumps may fall, but he may also fly. It’s time to jump.
~ Lauren Oliver, Requiem Category: Urban Tales Three classic log cottages, sitting atop one of the largest housing estates in Kosice, Slovakia, are a part of ‘the Folk Architecture Monument,’ conceived by Slovak artist Tomas Dzadon. The log cottages date from 1902 (Parnica) and 1965 (Liptovska Teplicka) are placed on the roof of a classic prefabricated 13-floor housing block. Their combined weight is approximately 42 tons.
Installation took place from August to September 2013, and the opening ceremony was on 28 September 2013, on the occasion when Kosice received the title – the European Capital of Culture. Category: Urban Landscape Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Category: Wings Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.
~ Oscar Wilde Category: People I added into my blog a new category called - ‘Speed’. All presented works are achieved mainly by a photographic technique known as panning. In still photography, the panning technique is used to suggest fast motion, and bring out the subject from other elements in the frame.
There are two kinds of people; those who slow down at the yellow traffic light, and those who speed up. ~ Viola Nightwell Category: Speed |
