The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be
lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. ~ Friedrich Nietzsche Category: Urban Tales Sally Sallingova (1946-1999) was a Czech vocalist (also singing in Slovak), born in 1946 in Plzen (former Czechoslovakia), of Roma (mother) and US-American (father) descent.
From 1966 to 1967 Sally was a member of the Apollo music theatre, and after that she continued with the Apollobeat group of Petr Spaleny. Later she co-operated with Juraj Velcovsky and Brano Hronec orchestras and with them she toured Europe. In 1977 Sally appeared in a minor film role as Irena in Dusan Hanak's movie Pink Dreams. The romance is a variation on the Romeo and Juliet theme. Picture above is from a concert at the open-air arena in Presov, May 1972. Sally here performs together with the orchestra of Juraj Velcovsky (on the background is keyboardist Ernest Olah). Category: Classic People I just created a new category – People. This, semantically broader category, also replaces the hitherto tag 'Street portraits'.

Category: Urban Tales Giordano Bruno (1548-1600) was an Italian philosopher, mathematician an astrologer. He is celebrated for his cosmological theories, which went even further than the then-novel Copernican model, proposing that the stars were just distant suns surrounded by their own planets, and moreover the possibility that these planets could even foster life of their own. He also insisted that the Universe is in fact infinite, thus having no celestial body at its ‘center’.
Bruno was tried for heresy by the Roman Inquisition and in 1600 was burned at the stake in Rome's Campo de Fiori. After his death he gained considerable fame, particularly among 19th and early 20th century commentators who regarded him as a martyr for science. Today marks 415th anniversary of his death. Image above comes from my Wings series. Category: Diary Wings If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.

It has been snowing from the early morning, so the place was covered with a fresh white pillow. It's right time for shooting, everything is so clean, I said. She agreed. I asked her about the permission to photograph her. Of course, I don't mind, she answered.
