This picture was taken in 1970, maybe 1971 at the “Doors Open Day”. At that time I used medium format (6x6) twin-lens reflex camera Flexaret and photography was my hobby.
An army officer, standing before the airplane, was captain of the jet bomber. He was very friendly and funny guy. Later, after I read Joseph Heller’s book - “Catch 22”, I started envision him as Yossarian. He looked very much like him.
Although at this time the world was still in the midst of the Cold War, in Czechoslovakia was still possible to feel the delightful smell of freedom and lingering atmosphere of the Prague Spring of 1968. Even army officers, especially younger ones, were still very friendly and relaxed. And one of them was Yossarian.
I served my obligatory military service at the air base since 1969 to 1971, and worked as technician (telecommunications)
as a part of the ground staff.
